The Hoggard Vikings had to wait until Monday night to start thinking of their showdown with New Hanover on Friday, since their game was postponed due to rain. Jacksonville came in playing well and the Vikings could have been tempted to look over the Cardinals in anticipation of their season finale versus New Hanover. However, neither Hoggard or New Hanover lost their unbeaten conference record in the set up game leading up to their clash.
The situation paralleled the lead up to the NFL’s biggest match up of the season as the Patriots and Colts both cruised to easy victories before heading into their biggest game of the regular season, with undefeated records in tact. The same is true for Hoggard and New Hanover, at least in conference play, and with the title on the line, that’s what matters most.
Hoggard took care of business in the first half, which would be important due to the short week. With only four days until their next game, it was important for the Vikings to put the game away and give their guys plenty of rest. By the half, they lead 35-0, mission accomplished.
While they weren’t able to put any points on the board in the second half, the Hoggard defense stymied Jacksonville’s offense and the 35 points were more than enough.
Now the Vikings and Wildcats are ready to square off in the game both have had circled since the schedule’s came out. Hoggard will enter the game ranked #2 in the state, looking to keep their unbeaten mark in tact.
