UNCW Men’s Golf Team Wraps Up Hawaiian Invitational, Brock Finishes Strong As Seahawks Wind Up in 13th

KAHUKU, HAWAII (Courtesy UNCW Sports Information)– UNC Wilmington freshman Josh Brock set a career-low with a 66 in the final round to finish in a tie for 13th overall at the Turtle Bay College Invitational on Wednesday at the Turtle Bay Resort. The Seahawks finished 13th overall in the 20-team field.
Tennessee’s Charles Ford, 70-64-66=200, and UC Irvine’s Sean Shahi, 65-67-68=200, finished tied for first at 16-under and shared medalist honors. Tennessee, 264-275-261=800, won the team championship by 21 strokes over UC Irvine, 270-280-271=821.

Brock, 69-70-66=205, led the Seahawks and finished 11-under-par while sophomore Derek Wallace, who began the day in a tie for eight, recorded a 71 in the final round, fell out of the top 20 and tied for 21st. Wallace, 66-71-71=208, finished eight-under for the tournament.

Junior Will Shambley, 72-70-68=210 continued his climb up the leader board and finished six-under and tied for 36th.

Junior Eddie Brock, 71-77-76=224, and sophomore Brad Dilen, 72-77-76=225, finished tied for 100th and 104th, respectively.

The Seahawks, who were making their final appearance of the fall semester, return to the fairways on Feb. 24 at the Cuthbert Cup on Kiawah Island, S.C.
