WILMINGTON, N.C. No. 18 Old Dominion wrapped up a successful four-game road trip and remained perfect against UNC Wilmington with a 67-55 Colonial Athletic Association women’s basketball decision over the Seahawks Wednesday night at Trask Coliseum.

The Lady Monarchs, ranked 18th in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll, improved to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in the CAA with their fourth straight triumph. The Lady Seahawks suffered their second consecutive setback and first home loss in seven outings and stand 9-4 and 0-2.

Junior forward Tiffany Green led the way for the Lady Monarchs with a career-high 21 points on 8-for-12 from the field and 5-for-7 at the free throw line. Senior guard T.J. Jordan chipped in 16 points and senior center Megan Pym added 12 for ODU, which shot 44.4 percent from the field.

Junior forward Sahsha Taylor was the only Seahawk in double figures with 19 points. Taylor went 7-for-11 from the floor and 5-for-8 at the charity stripe and added eight rebounds in 32 minutes.

ODU won its 35th straight game in the series over UNCW, but it wasn’t easy. The Seahawks scored the first four points in the contest and after trailing 32-24 at the break rallied to close within three points midway through the second half before losing by double digits.

After building as much as a 15-point lead in the opening period and settling for an eight-point lead at intermission, ODU pushed the lead to nine points, 47-38, with 12:37 left on a pair of free throws by Jasmine Parker.

UNCW reeled off six straight points, however, on six free throws – four by Greta Luksyste and a pair by Shade Smith – to cut the deficit to 47-44 with 8:34 remaining.

ODU responded with a 12-2 run to douse any comeback hopes by the Seahawks. Shahida Williams kickstarted the rally with two free throws and a layup by Pym capped the spurt and gave the Lady Monarchs their largest lead of the game, 59-46, with 3:40 left.

The two teams combined for 43 turnovers in the contest as UNCW committed 22 miscues and ODU had 21. ODU won the battle of the boards, 37-30, as Pym pulled down nine rebounds and Williams had eight.

ODU, which has won eight of its last nine contests, resumes its CAA slate Sunday with a 2 p.m. clash against state rival James Madison at the Constant Center in Norfolk, Va. UNCW entertains Towson Sunday in a 2 p.m. matchup at Trask Coliseum.
