Senior Griffin Leuck hit five three pointers and scored 19 points as Hoggard rolled to a 70-34 win over West Brunswick on Friday night at James Hebbe Gym. The Vikings (13-6, 6-1) hit nine three pointers and shot 50 percent from the floor as they won for the sixth time in their last seven games to remain in second place in the Mideastern Conference.
Hoggard got off to a slow start before Leuck hit three of his long range bombs in the second quarter to help the Vikings build a 28-13 lead at halftime. Hoggard quickly extended the lead after the break, outscoring the Trojans 25-9 in the third quarter.
All 12 Vikings played at least 10 minutes in the game and 10 players scored. Tyler Heffernan added 11 points and Brad Busby contributed a career-high 10 points. Logan Cain contributed 8 points and a team-high seven rebounds while Zack Allen had a game-high six assists.
The Hoggard JV team beat the Trojans 69-39 earlier in the afternoon to remain unbeaten at 16-0. Both teams will be off until next Friday night when they resume conference play by traveling to Jacksonville to take on White Oak.
