New Hanover 72 - Ashley 42
When the Wildcats traveled down to the southern part of the county to take on Ashley, they were welcomed by a young upstart team that was able to keep New Hanover’s offense somewhat in check. Tuesday night’s rematch at Brogden Hall wound up being a different story. The Wildcats came out and took a 24-11 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
With the win, New Hanover improves to 18-2, and remains unbeaten in seven league games. Ashley dips to 4-15 on the season, and 1-7 in the conference.
Jacksonville 73 - Laney 66 OT
In a battle for third place in the Mideastern Conference, Jacksonville was able to outlast Laney in overtime. Tied at 57 after regulation, the Cardinals outscored Laney 16-9 during the bonus session.
After getting their league mark over .500, the Bucs evened out at 4-4 and must try to rebound against New Hanover on Friday. In their earlier trip to Brogden Hall, they battled for the entire game and lost 68-62 in the third place game of the Brogden Tournament. New Hanover also won their second match up, which took place at Laney, by a score of 59-51 inside a packed Michael Jordan Gymnasium.

New Hanover 39 - Ashley 29
The Lady Wildcats won their third consecutive game on Tuesday when they downed Ashley 39-29. With the win, New Hanover bumps their record up to 11-8 and are now 5-3 in the conference. Ashley had been looking for their second win in league play, but fell to 1-7 and 4-15 overall.
Ashley will be back on the court on Friday when the host West Brunswick, while New Hanover hosts Laney.
Jacksonville 37 - Laney 35
The Lady Bucs suffered their first Mideastern conference loss on Tuesday as they were bumped off by the Jacksonville Cardinals. Laney is now 13-5 overall and 6-1 in the league while Jacksonville evens out at 4-4 in Mideatern play.
Laney will look to bounce back on Friday when they play at New Hanover, a clash of #1 vs. #3 in the league standings.
