In another nail biter, the Wilmington Sea Dawgs lost to the Jacksonville Slam by a score or 106-103 Saturday night. The Sea Dawgs were down most of the game, but pulled within one point with less than a minute to go. However Jacksonville held on for the three point win in a PBL East Division match-up at the Schwartz Center in downtown Wilmington.
High scorers for the Sea Dawgs were Charles Ward with 24 points (11 rebounds as well), and Jermaine Williams with 21 points.
Sea Dawgs Notes:
Charles “Flat Out” Ward, a small forward / shooting guard from St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh, NC was named PBL player of the week. The 6’7”, 220 player has spent time in the USBL, the D-League and with the Harlem Globertrotters. This season, Ward currently averages 18.1 points per game, 7.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots, as well as having earned three double-doubles in the Sea Dawgs’ first ten games.
Jermaine Williams has been stepping it up of late averaging 21 points and close to nine rebounds over the last three outings.
The Sea Dawgs next four games are on the road and don’t return home until March 14.
