Diamondhawks Streak At 20 After Sweeping VCU On Appel’s Game Winning Hit

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Senior Jason Appel’s two-out single knocked in the game-winning run in the top of the ninth inning as UNC Wilmington edged Virginia Commonwealth, 6-5, to complete a sweep of the defending Colonial Athletic Association champions on Sunday at The Diamond.

In a Mideastern showdown, the Hoggard girls’ soccer team defeated New Hanover by the score of 2-1 on Tuesday night at Legion Stadium.  Hoggard entered the week ranked ninth in the state while New Hanover checked in one spot behind them at #10.
