PHILADELPHIA – Senior Amanda Hastings went 2-for-3 with two RBI and sophomore Katrina Gaudier allowed just three hits in four and two-thirds innings of relief to lead Drexel to a 5-2 victory over UNCW in the finale of a three-game Colonial Athletic Association softball series Sunday at Drexel Field.

The Dragons improved to 13-7 overall and 3-0 in CAA play as they swept the series with UNCW and extended their winning streak to nine games. The Seahawks fell to 9-13-1 on the season and 0-3 in league play.

Hastings was one of six different Dragons to record a hit in the contest as Drexel managed seven hits during the contest. Sophomore Ashley Botelho was 1-for-4 with a two-run home run while junior Christina Rodriguez was 1-for-3 with a RBI.

Junior Carley Hughes went 3-for-4 with a home run, her team-leading 11th of the season, for UNCW. Sophomore Morgan Walters was 2-for-4 while freshman Rachel Sawyer was 1-for-4 with a solo home run.

Botelho staked the Dragons to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, hitting a two-run home run down the right field line. Botelho’s blast scored Hastings, who reached base one batter earlier on a single to the shortstop.

UNCW tied the game at 2-all in the third inning, using back-to-back solo home runs from Hughes and Sawyer to pull even.

Rodriguez put the Dragons ahead for good in the fourth, hitting a fly ball to shallow right field that dropped in, allowing sophomore Carla Waldron to score from second.

Drexel added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth, as a Hastings single up the middle with the bases loaded plated the final two runs of the contest.

Gaudier picked up the win for the Dragons as she improved to 7-3. In 4.2 innings of work in relief of starter sophomore Breanna Gomez, Gaudier surrendered just three hits while striking out three.

Freshman Amanda Aditays took the loss for UNCW to even her season mark at 6-6. Aditays went 3.2 innings and allowed three runs on five hits and three walks. She struck out three.

UNCW returns to action Wednesday with a 4 p.m. doubleheader at Coastal Carolina. Drexel is back on the field Tuesday in a 3 p.m. twinbill at Lafayette
