The Laney girls softball team advanced to the second round of the NCHSAA playoffs via their 6-0 win over East Chapel Hill on Wednesday.
The Bucs have dropped just two games all year and are winners of their last nine games. On Wednesday, Laney burst through for 5 runs in the fourth inning to break open what had been a close game.
Laney has outscored their last four opponents 34-1 and have five shutouts in their last seven games. The Bucs will look to stay hot on Friday when they host Greenville Rose in round 2 at 7:00. Laney opened the season with back-to-back wins over Rose, 3-0 on the road and 7-5 at home.
