It will be a transition season in 2008-2009 for he New Hanover boys’ basketball team.

Departed, will be the core of their roster.  No more Ty Walker, Mr. North Carolina, and the throng of seniors that helped win the state championship in ‘06- ‘07 and went 26-3 in 2008 before their somewhat surprising exit from the NCHSAA Tourney.

The Wildcats will have to fill the shoes of Rakeem Wilson, Nick Becton, David Pellom, Antonio Boyd and Darryl Pulliam on the court, but found out this week that they will also have to find a new head coach.

Franklin McMillan has announced that he will be stepping down, effective immediately, as NHHS boys basketball coach after just one season.  The 1988 NHHS grad came back to Wilmington from northern Virginia to coach the team, but will not be returning for a sophomore season.
