Hammerheads Play To Scoreless Tie With Western Mass

June 14th, 2008 · No Comments

The Wilmington Hammerheads (1-5-2) collected one point on Friday night in the USL-2 standings as they played to a scoreless tie with visiting Western Mass (4-3-3).

After their last outing in which they collected their first win of 2008 and tallied five goals, the Hammerheads offense had a few chances, but could not put one in the back of the net.

Western Mass’ couldn’t score themselves, however their bend and don’t break prevent defense helped earn them a point, a positive when playing on the road.

Wilmington goalie John O’Hara needed to make just one save on the evening as the defense pitched their first shutout of the year.  However, the nil score didn’t help them get a win as the Hammerheads offense never found a way to get on the board.  Eight games into the season, there isn’t a player on the Hammers roster that has scored a goal in multiple games this season.

The Hammerheads will be back at Legion Stadium on Tuesday to host Baltimore Crystal Palace, which currently sits in second place.
