WILMINGTON, N.C. - Former UNC Wilmington All-American pitcher Brad Holt officially signed with the New York Mets Friday after being the 33rd overall pick last week in the Major League Baseball draft.
Terms of the contract have not been released.
Holt is the final of four former Seahawks to sign a professional contract after Daniel Hargrave (Philadelphia,), Jason Appel (Tampa Bay) and Mark Carver (Pittsburgh) signed with their respective organizations earlier in the week.
Holt will report to the Brooklyn Cyclones of the Single A New York-Penn League, who begin their season on Tuesday against the rival Staten Island Yankees.
The NY Penn League will have a UNCW feel to it as Hargrave will play for the Williamsport Crosscutters, Appel for the Hudson Valley Renegades and Carver with the State College (Pa.) Spikes.
