In the first of two road games this weekend, the Wilmington Hammerheads played to a 0-0 draw with the Cleveland City Stars on Friday night in USL Division 2 action.
The Hammerheads have not lost a game in their last four contests, earning six points in that span, and moved up to eighth place in the overall standings. Their record headed into Saturday’s match at Pittsburgh is 1-5-4. The Riverhounds are still looking for their first win of the season at 0-7-3.
Cleveland outshot the Hammerheads 18-8, yet despite having more opportunities, they could not beat Wilmington keeper John O’Hara who made seven saves on the evening.
Seeing as Cleveland has never lost a game playing at Krenzer Stadium, the tie for the Hammerheads is a solid result. If they can sneak out a win against the struggling Pittsburgh squad, the Hammerheads would earn four points on their weekend road trip which would certainly help their surge in the USL-2 ranks.
