After a solid stint for the Diamondbacks AAA-affiliate Tucson this spring, Wilmington local Trot Nixon was dealt to the New York Mets to help solidify their injury depleted outfield. But after going 2-3 in his debut on June 15, things haven’t gone Nixon’s way.
His first appearance was his best; it was the only multiple hit game of the eleven he played in before landing on the disabled list with a strained groin. According to Mets’ team sources, Nixon had been hampered by the injury for some period of time and will be out until at least late July.
Nixon was batting .171 with one homerun and one RBI in 35 plate appearances. Hopefully some rest will do his groin some good and he will be able to get back to playing ball in the bigs.
