Down 2-0 early the Sharks battled back late to snap a five game losing streak and hand Fayetteville the 6-2 loss at the Shark Tank Sunday night.
Hunter Owen(Milsaps College) came up with the shot heard round the Tank to send the Sharks to victory. The third of his three doubles on the night brought in three in the eighth to put the Sharks up for good. Mike Alvarez(Florida Gulf Coast) and Cory Lyda(Presbyterian) led off the frame with back to back singles. Bobby Leeper(UNC-Wilmington) reached on an error, and all three trotted home on Owen’s blast to left field.
Mike Rudman(Miami) started the ballgame and held the Swampdogs to just two runs on five hits through his five and two thirds innings of work. Chris Powell(Presbyterian) picked up his first win throwing two and two thirds scoreless, only allowing a walk. Ryan Vander Tuig(San Jose State) shut the door in the ninth to give the Sharks the win.
Trailing 2-0 headed into the bottom of the seventh the Sharks rally began with back to back walks to Kolby Epley(College of Charleston) and Ryan Graepel(North Carolina). Neal Pritchard(Elon) dropped a bunt out in front of the plate that ended up down the right field line on the throw, allowing the tying runs to scamper home.
