WILMINGTON, N.C. – Third-year men’s basketball coach Benny Moss has announced the addition of David Jandrew as UNC Wilmington’s new Director of Men’s Basketball Operations. Jandrew’s responsibilities will include assisting with scheduling, travel and day-to-day activities in the Seahawk basketball program.

Jandrew, 34, joins the UNCW staff after serving two years as an assistant coach at Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in Lexington, Va. He also worked previously at UNC Charlotte, where Moss played and coached prior to taking over the Seahawk program in 2006-07.

“We’re very excited about David coming to Wilmington,” said Moss. “I’ve worked with David in the past, so I’ve seen first-hand how organized and professional he is. He will be a tremendous asset to our program for years to come.”

Jandrew taught and coached at three North Carolina high schools (Newton-Conover, Newton, N.C.; Fred T. Foard High School, Newton, N.C.; Vance High School, Charlotte, N.C.) before moving to the collegiate ranks. He worked as Western Carolina’s Director of Basketball Operations during the 2002-03 season before returning to his alma mater as UNCC’s video coordinator and athletic academic advisor for three seasons from 2004-06.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Coach Moss and his staff,” said Jandrew. “I’ve worked with Coach Moss previously and know that the program’s one of the best in the country. I grew up in North Carolina and understand the proud tradition of Seahawk basketball. I’m very happy to be back in the state and with this program.”

The Hickory, N.C., native earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Secondary Education from UNCC in 1996 and completed his Master of Science Degree in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University in 1998.

Jandrew is UNCW’s fourth basketball operations specialist since the position was created. He follows in the footsteps of Mike Capaccio, Jimmy Garrity and Adam Collins.
