WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNC Wilmington rising sophomore catcher Cody Stanley belted his way to New England Collegiate Baseball League Co-Player-of-the-Week honors the league announced on Monday.
Stanley, who is playing for the North Adams SteepleCats, led his team to a perfect 6-0 week by scoring 13 runs and rapping out 13 hits, including five multi-hit games. The Clinton, N.C., native hit .520 over the stretch.
On the season, Stanley is hitting a robust .367, having started 15-of-18 games for North Adams, who sits in third-place in the Southern Division, 2 1/2 games off the pace. He has knocked in 17 runs, tied for second on the club, and scored 19 runs.
Stanley is coming off a solid rookie campaign with the Seahawks and earning freshman All-America honors after posting a .288 batting average with five home runs and 32 runs batted in.
