Seahawks Finish 2-1 At The Battle At The Beach

All-Tournament selections Anna Price and Rachael Caricato racked up double digit kills as host UNC Wilmington cruised past North Carolina A&T, 3-0, to finish 2-1 in the Battle at the Beach Volleyball Tournament Saturday at Hanover Hall.


 

      Radford captured the championship of the two-day tourney with a clean 3-0 record. UNCW finished 2-1, Hartford went 1-2 and North Carolina A&T wound up winless at 0-3.

 

      In Saturday’s tournament finale, Price recorded 10 kills – her third double digit effort in as many games – Caricato also added 10 for the Seahawks, who turned in an impressive .246 attack percentage in the match. Freshman setter Kelsey Bendig dished out 26 assists and junior defensive specialist Ashlyn Morris had 18 digs for the winners.

 

      N.C. A&T was paced by All-Tournament pick Avingnon Williams, who had 12 kills in 21 attempts for the Aggies.

 

      The Seahawks begin a seven-game road trip next weekend with an appearance in the Elon Volleyball Classic. UNCW will face North Carolina A&T Friday at 4:30 p.m., battle Campbell Saturday at 10 a.m. and wrap up the event with a 7 p.m. test Saturday against the host Phoenix.
