Box Hill Senior Secondary School from Australia used a 28-10 run over the last 12 minutes of the first half to propel them to a 61-52 win over Hoggard in the Championship Game of the Fort Mill Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Logan Cain led the Vikings with 15 points. Will Keistler added 13 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Hoggard (2-1) jumped out to an 11-2 lead before Box Hill responded with their big run to end the first half. The Vikings were hurt by foul trouble, being whistled for 14 fouls in the first half. Box Hill was 22-27 from the free throw line in the game while Hoggard was just 8-13.
The Vikings managed to get the deficit down to five in the fourth quarter but could never get any closer.
Keistler added 10 rebounds for the first double-double of his career.
Laney Teams Split At Goldsboro Tourney
The Laney boys’ and girls’ teams were in action playing in the Goldsboro Tournament and each team split a pair of games. On Friday, the boys defeated CB Aycock in their opener 89-79 and were then topped by Rocky Mount Prep 75-68 on Saturday. The girls lost their first game to Goldsboro 54-51 and then beat CB Aycock in a nail biter, 28-27.
In the finals of the New Hanover County JV Tournament, Laney topped Hoggard 50-45.
