Road Unkind to Ashley Basketball Teams As North Brunswick Sweeps

December 6th, 2008 · No Comments

Ashley was the only one of the four Wilmington high schools to play on the road, traveling to North Brunswick where the Eagles were swept.

The Ashley boys team lost a game that could have gone either way, but the Eagles were edged by one point, 59-58.

Travis Keys, 21 points, was just one of three Eagles in double figures but Ashley could not hold onto a 25-18 halftime lead as North scored 41 second half points to improve to 1-2 on the season.

Ashley will play at Jacksonville on Tuesday.

In the girls game, the Lady Eagles were also defeated as North Brunswick prevailed 50-38.  Ashley was coming of a big victory over Topsail, winning by 17 points 51-34 in which Ashley Altman scored 15 points.  On Friday, however, North held her to just four.

Jasmine Kelly and Megan Goins each scored seven points, pacing the Lady Eagles who will look to rebound at Jacksonville Tuesday.
