Cape Fear Academy Holds Off Wilmington Christian Academy

January 7th, 2009 · No Comments

CFA made the journey up College Road to take on WCA Tuesday night and after it seemed they had the game in hand, the Patriots made a late run.

CFA led from the beginning of the game and with their double digit lead in the third quarter, the Hurricanes seemed in control.

But senior Kevin Darden and WCA made a run in the fourth quarter as they brought the home fans to life.  Darden hit six three pointers on the night and finished with 26 points as he eclipsed the 1,000 point mark.

However, the Hurricanes, led by Alex Smith’s 26 points, would respond and pulled away down the stretch.  TK added 16 points for CFA who upped their record to 6-7 while WCA fell to 6-8.

The WCA girls won the opener, posting a 41-37 win.
