cameron-roth-uncw-baseball-webWILMINGTON, N.C. - Cody Stanley and the Cotuit Kettleers advanced to the Cape Cod League Championship this week after an 18-4 hammering of the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox on Monday at “Red” Wilson Field.  Cotuit opens the championship on Aug. 11 on the road against Bourne, which features fellow Seahawks Stephen Harrold and Cameron Roth.

The series will be the best of three with game two taking place at Lowell Park in Cotuit on Aug. 12.

In the Coastal Plain League, Peninsula, which has UNCW hurlers Tyler McSwain and Thomas Jones on its roster, will look to advance to the CPL championship with a win over Outer Banks.

Last week, Justin Bradley and the Westhampton Aviators capture the ACBL title with a win over the Jersey Pilots.

In late July, Aaron Jones led the Kernersville Bulldogs to their second straight CVCL title and sixth overall. On his way to the title, Jones broke team records with a .431 batting average, 62 hits, 29 RBI and 11 doubles.
