New Hanover Football Team Learns of Round Two Foe… Finally

November 18th, 2009 · No Comments

New Hanover could have played Terry Sanford, after all, Sanford beat Pine Forest in Round One.

But then there was a Lee Corso moment… not so fast, my friend.

Here’s a rundown of the events…

Terry Sanford player ruled ineligible last week.

Appeal filed.

Not ready by gametime Friday.

Game pushed back to Saturday.

Still no ruling, so player plays, T-S wins.

Monday, hearing on player…no result by end of day.

Tuesday, judge rules T-S must forfeit.

That would appear to give NHHS a bye in round two; rule states once you lose, you are out of the playoffs.

Pine Forest files appeal to be let back in since Terry Sanford used ineligible player - should have had to forfeit before game was ever played.

Appeal passed by panel of seven members.

And now New Hanover can plan accordingly.  The know they will play, and who they will play, which has been up in the air since Friday night when they blanked Holly Springs 24-0 in round one.
