The UNCW mens basketball team was scheduled to fly out early Friday morning. The Seahawks arrived in Delaware late on Friday. They have yet to take the court.
Seahawks and Blue Hens were originally scheduled to play on Saturday before the game was moved back to Sunday due to the blizzard that hit the mid-Atlantic region. Sunday wasn’t enough of a delay, the conditions pushed the game back to Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center.
After Monday’s contest at Delaware, the Seahawks will make the short drive south to Towson, Maryland. UNCW is scheduled to take on the Tigers Wednesday… weather permitting of course.
In womens basketball action, things didn’t go so well Sunday on the road… here’s the release:

The Pride improved to 13-10 overall and upped their league mark to 6-5 as they picked up their fourth victory in their last five outings. The Seahawks dropped to 7-15 and 2-9 with the road setback.
Evans’ 28 points highlighted a Pride attack that shot an impressive 50.0 percent from the field in the contest, highl a sizzling 63.6 percent in the first half as it knocked down 14-of-22 field goal attempts in the opening frame. Senior guard Sam Brigham and sophomore guard Nicole Capruso joined Evans in double figures with 16 and 12 points, respectively while sophomore guard Candice Bellocchio finished just shy of a double-double with nine points and a game-high nine assists.

The two teams then proceeded to trade baskets over the next six minutes until an 8-2 spurt for the Pride gave them their biggest lead of the game, 69-54, with just under two minutes remaining. Both sides exchanged points over the remaining 1:45 as Hofstra would maintain its double-digit lead until the final buzzer.

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Senior Caitlin Kirsteier broke a pool record in the 50 Freestyle and the Seahawks set a season record for wins as UNC Wilmington swam past Campbell, 114-83, in women’s swimming action on Saturday at the Seahawk Natatorium.
The Seahawks closed out the regular season with an 11-3 with the win over the Camels, who dipped to 7-13 on the season. The previous record of 10 dual meet wins was set in 2005-06.
Kirsteier’s time of 23.37 broke a venue standard (23.62) that was set during the 1993 Colonial Athletic Association championships by James Madison’s Cindy Walker.
UNCW opened the meet winning nine of the first 10 events before exhibitioning the final two events.
Junior Michelle Schisa swam on UNCW’s winning 400 Medley Relay to open the meet. She added a win in the 100 Butterfly later in the meet, posting a time of 59.34.

The Seahawks will now begin preparations for the CAA Championships that begin on Feb. 25.
