Brooks To Be Honored Before UNCW Basketball Game Saturday

WILMINGTON, N.C. – William J. Brooks, widely recognized as the architect of UNC Wilmington’s athletic program, will be honored during a special pre-game ceremony before Saturday’s men’s basketball game between the Seahawks and Colonial Athletic Association rival George Mason.

UNCW Sets School Record, Seahawks Run Past VMI 115-95

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNC Wilmington raced out to a quick lead and set a school single game scoring record with 115-95 triumph over visiting VMI in a non-conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night at Trask Coliseum.

Laney’s LaGrange Among UNCW Baseball’s Next Class

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNC Wilmington head baseball coach Mark Scalf has announced the additions of Josh Abshire, Dillon Bass, Drew Farber, Ricky Holden, Ryan LaGrange, Christian MacDonald, William Prince, Kelly Secrest and Luis Renvill to play baseball for the Seahawks and continue their education at UNCW beginning in 2010.

Cape Cod Baseball League Playoffs Full Of UNCW Flavor

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Cody Stanley and the Cotuit Kettleers advanced to the Cape Cod League Championship this week after an 18-4 hammering of the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox on Monday at “Red” Wilson Field.  Cotuit opens the championship on Aug. 11 on the road against Bourne, which features fellow Seahawks Stephen Harrold and Cameron Roth.

CPL All Star Game To Include Some Sharks and Seahawks… And One That’s Both

Wilmington Ties Selected in Major League Baseball Draft

Wilmington local Stephen Batts and two UNCW Seahawks were selected in the MLB draft this week.
Batts, pictured left, was selected in the nineteenth round by the Philadelphia Phillies.  Batts is a Laney High grad and just completed his senior season at East Carolina last weekend as the Pirates were ousted in their super-regional against UNC.

CAA Announces Baseball Tourney To Be Played At Brooks Field

Season Ends For UNCW, Georgia State Wins CAA Baseball Championship

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Georgia State rallied from an 8-3 deficit behind the strong relief pitching of sophomore Theo Asher and four hits by senior Marc Mimeault to knock off UNC Wilmington, 12-10, to win the Colonial Athletic Association championship and the league’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament at Brooks Field on Saturday.
